Blondie is a girl who likes to please, and she excelled with this, her second litter. She was a bit late, but finally delivered 13 pups on 12-17-09. She very carefully balanced the litter - 3 black males, 3 tawny males, 3 black females, and 4 tawny females. This is Mac's first time as a father. Both parents are blessed with wonderful temperaments. Blondie's pups from her first litter are entertaining, fun loving, and smart. Mac is always a pleasure to have around. Along with great temperaments, we are also expecting great structure, lovely heads, good bone, and easy to care for coats. That first look at the newborns shows the good coats, nice heads, and good fronts we expected. It's always exciting to see how ther rest develops!

Blondie is an absolute sweetheart. Playful, loving, a lapdog all the way, easy to live with, she really takes after her parents, Belle and Odo. She is named Black at Heart because I was hoping she would be a black girl, but in that litter, Belle chose to only have tawny girls. Like her mother and great-grandmother, Blondie was born into my hands. She lived with me until she went to Claude's to stay for a few weeks, and she never came home. They loved her too much for me to take her back. Claude and her are inseparable, except when Steve takes her herding on a regular basis. So, she comes back to me to show, and for her litter. Meanwhile in northern California, she and Steve have a standing lunch date at the outdoor cafe every Saturday, where she quickly becomes a center of attention. She spends her time loving her humans, and playing with Taz, Margot, and her daughter Syrah, her Briard housemates. Blondie has the natural Briard reserve with strangers, not afraid, just not really interested until she knows you. Those she knows are objects of her lavish affection.
Blondie isn't a finished champion yet. She has three disadvantages in the show ring. The biggest is me as a handler. I have been determined to show her myself, but don't do her justice. The second is her laid back attitude in the ring - a good attitude for herding, not so good for showing! Last is her natural ears. I love the look, but it is still sometimes harder to finish a Briard with natural ears than one who is cropped. We will get there, just not yet. I may have to admit it will take a better handler than me to get those last points we need.

Mac's mother Jill says:
"Mr. Mac is such a fun and funny dog to live with. If he is bored, he is quite capable of entertaining himself in the most creative ways. For instance, his favorite chair in the family room is a swivel rocker/recliner. If no one will play with him, he hides his toy in the back of the cushion, puts his two front feet on the chair and proceeds to push himself around in a circle until he or the chair get dizzy. They he pounces on the seat pushing the back to a reclining position and retrieves his toy - what a feat for the great warrior. He loves people and goes to visit whenever the opportunity arises....he is loved and welcomed at many of the downtown businesses and the team at my dentist office LOVE him. He is a loving pet.
Mac is very laid back and comfortable in all settings. He just makes himself at home wherever he is. We just recently got back from visiting family in Nevada where he had to share attention with Miss Baylee (his house-mate) and my grandson's dog Harley, the small beagle. The little snow we had was a fun adventure for him."
